State of the Union
From a cosmopolitan consulter
How can we trust the European commission to run the European Union ? I ask
because, on a recent visit to a European commission building, they displayed a
remarkable lack of basic competence. For example, I was almost not admitted to
the building because office A has no record of a request made, by email, by
office B. I have seen this e-mail, and know it was sent. However,, due to
incompetence in office A, office C who actually use the information forwarded to
them by A could do nothing, because they only deal with office A, and not office
B.This is a simple thing - e-mail from person one to person
two, resulting in an action at person 3. And yet they could not manage it. No
wonder the EU is slightly shambolic.

Dear Anon yourself! oh come on everyone knows the bigger an organisation the easier it is for folk to avoid doing work. At the moment all companies are getting bigger and bigger and surviving through economies of scale. In time this will be their failing. the british empire, the roman one, marconi are to name but a few things that grew and grew and then just collapsed. The american system is one very large country as is the chinese but the european model is based on a true federal system and this model will ensure that each block is strong and allow for weak blocks to be repaired without the whole thing coming down. Please do not see the brussels EU as the whole thing, it is but a pretty head to a hard working body.

Dear Peter Mandelson,
You are a real fan of Schuman!
Does fat = lazy ?
There is no doubt that the bigger and more secure the organisation, the less insecure are jobs for the individuals employed, and that there are plenty of examples of those in secure jobs being sloppy (just look at the UK Home Office). However, it is no excuse for plain and simple incompitence. This is the Common Sense Consultancy, and common sense says that you will be even more efficient if you stop incompitence within your organisation. You will also be more appealing to customers. I would like to include the EC in this statement as we are all customers of the EC (whether we like it or not). However, the re is little consumer choice in this case !
And that may bring me to another rant….
