I have a top I bought from a shop and it is blue and white and the label in it says I am to wash colour separately. Over time the blue has gradually become less blue while the white more blue. How was I meant to separate the two?

Not much you can do about this one. You just have to accept things sometimes. The bit of advice I can give though is do not try and cut the item up before washing it, and again, do not wash it at a high temperature.
Otherwise, just get on with it.
